Skiing Whistler Blakcomb is a great day trip from Vancouver and something that is on nearly every visitor’s list and this weekend marks the beginning of the 2012/1213 season! After an exhilarating day on the slopes you may not quite be ready for the drive back to Vancouver. when the hills close in the late afternoon. Scandinave Spa has partnered with Whistler Blackcomb to offer and amazing ski and spa package which is the perfect way to take care of your tired muscles and reflect on your day before heading home.
Scandinave Spa provides quite a unique experience. It offers massage, but the main attraction is the thermal hydrotherapy treatment. The spa is an outdoor oasis that has steaming hot pools, a sauna cabin, a eucalyptus steam room, cold plunges and relaxation pavilions. The staff at Scandinave will suggest that you follow the traditional Finnish practice of partaking in one of the heat sources for 10 to 15 minutes then, when your body is sufficiently heated, plunge into one of the cold pools to refresh yourself for a few seconds before a rest in one of the relaxation pavilions or beside the fire pit.
Ideally, you want to repeat this process three or four times for maximum health, healing and relaxation benefits. This process of hot, cold, rest has been the cornerstone of Finnish heath practices for centuries. It will not only sooth the aches and pains of a strenuous day of skiing, it will also rid your body of toxins and refine your pours.
Scandinave Spas will leave you skin feeling soft, your muscles relaxed, and your mind refreshed. A near silent environment and a leisurely pace are encouraged. Bathing suits are mandatory and nothing else is necessary. However, you may want to bring a pair of flip-flops, your own robe, and a friend to share the experience.
