Though you may be far from home, it doesn’t have to feel that way! Many of you stay with us for week or months (even years) at a time and we do our best to make these furnished suites feel more like a home than a hotel room. However, here are just a few ideas that you might want to consider to really make the space your own.
Bloom Where You are Planted
A potted plant or fresh cult flowers can really brighten your stay. Both cost effective and easy to find in the Vancouver Extended Stay neighborhood, they are in instant pick-me-up in any room.
Your favorite slippers or throw blanket will keep your cozy and the soft familiar textures can be comforting especially in the cooler weather.
Does your home always smell like baking, the ocean, like a forest? Sent is a powerful sense and a couple drops of your favorite essential oil blend can be comforting and relaxing.
The Ties that Bind
Your loved ones may be miles away, but a framed photograph or two might be just the thing to keep them close while adding your own personal touch to the decor. Also, don’t forget to download Skype before you leave.
Everyone has their own routine when they travel. Here is what our staff does to feel more at home when they are away:
“I buy myself fresh cut flowers and make sure I have a good book” — Susan, Sales Manager
“I bring my favorite shampoo and all my special toiletries.” — Douglas, Guest Services Manager
“Licorice tea, I drink it every night before bed no matter what. It helps me settle in.” — Natasha, Assistant to Sales and Marketing
Another thing that is not on the list and that we would encourage is to get to know the neighborhood; find a favorite coffee shop, browse the nearby grocery stores, or discover ways you can keep up your fitness routine.
Traveling with kids comes with it’s own joys and challenges. The more comfortable they feel the happier everyone will be. This article by ParentsConnect.com called Family Travel: Make Your Hotel Room Feel Like Home has the “must haves” for pint sized travelers.
If you are staying for three nights or three years we hope these little tips will really help you settle in!
