Now that summer’s officially kicked off in Vancouver, we know how quickly calendars are filling up. Celebration of Light
Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated summer events, Honda’s Celebration of Light kicks off July 29. This year, Japan, the UK and Canada will battle it out for the title of best firework show. To secure a good spot, be sure to head to English Bay early and watch as the night comes alive with colour and music. Perfect for the whole family, factor in some extra time to check out the entertainment before the show, including live music and kid-friendly activities.
Bard on the Beach
Travel back in time for a Shakespearean experience with the 28th season of Bard on the Beach. Choose from popular plays like Much Ado About Nothing and The Winter’s Tale, for a night of culture and laughter. Don’t forget to visit Bard Village for shopping, food, and a range of educational activities.
Vancouver Mural Fest
The Mount Pleasant and Strathcona neighbourhoods are about to get a lot more colourful. The city’s largest annual free public art celebration, Vancouver Mural Fest, is back this August 7-12. Featuring more than 50 large scale murals, it’s an incredible opportunity to view work by some of Vancouver’s most talented artists.
Evo Summer Cinema
Grab your friends and head to Stanley Park every Tuesday after sunset for a family-friendly flick. Showcasing a range of movies like National Lampoon’s Vacation (July 25) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (August 15), it’s guaranteed to be a good time. Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets.
The Fair at the PNE
Celebrate BC’s legendary Fair at the PNE starting August 19 running through to September 4. Featuring special Canada 150 shows and entertainment, this is something you won’t want to miss! Until then, check out the PNE’s Summer Night Concert series happening nightly at 8:30pm. Or, opt for adults-only Playland Nights happening every Friday during the month of July.
