6 Day Trips from Vancouver!

If you’ve visited Vancouver before, you’ve likely already completed the typical tourist routes around Stanley Park, Granville Island and historic Gastown. While these are wonderful places to visit downtown, there’s a bounty of adventure waiting for you outside the city limits. Since we’re committed to providing you with the best experience possible, our team at Vancouver Extended Stay has rounded up 6 Day Trips from Vancouver you can easily visit in a day.

  1. Sea to Sky Gondola:

After a scenic, 45-minute drive on the gorgeous Sea to Sky Highway, you will find yourself enjoying sweeping views of the Howe Sound, luscious coastal forests, and the best of the North Shore’s gorgeous surrounding mountains. At the Sea to Sky Gondola, a 10 minute ride will transport you 885m above sea level, where you can partake in a wide range of outdoor experiences amidst some of the best views in BC. Atop the mountain, activities include hiking and walking trails, viewing platforms, rock climbing, dining and even a suspension bridge!

  1. Victoria

If you are interested in day trips that connect you with the West Coast like you’ve never experienced before, Victoria is the place for you. With a fun mix of both active, educational and relaxing experiences, Victoria is an amazing place. Although you can access Victoria via ferry from Swartz Bay terminal in Tsawwassen, we recommend treating yourself to a Harbour Air seaplane flight to reach this coastal destination. Once you arrive, you must make sure to visit the Royal BC Museum and Fisherman’s Wharf.

  1. Langley Wine Country

Leave the city behind and head into the country: Langley wine country, that is. Located approximately 45 minutes South-East of Vancouver, the Township of Langley plays host to a variety of great local wineries. These include Township 7 Vineyards, Backyard Vineyards and Chaberton Estate Winery. Wine tastings are typically offered daily and include a full selection of 100% BC VQA red and white wines! Pro tip: stock up on your own charcuterie and treats before you visit. Most wineries allow you to enjoy your pre-packed picnic amidst their gardens. Yum!

  1. Othello Tunnels:

The Othello Tunnels are a series of historic train bridges and tunnels throughout the granite walls of the raging Coquihalla River in Hope, BC. After a 2 hour drive from Vancouver’s city centre, you can enjoy this family-friendly adventure at your own pace. While swimming is not permitted due to the danger of the rapids, the park boasts numerous areas that make oh-so-perfect picnic spots! Pick up snacks in Hope on your way to the park.

  1. A Day Trip for the Adventurous: Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

This is one of our most favourite day trips from Vancouver. Although Capilano Suspension Bridge is an attraction that has impressed visitors since 1889, the park itself has come to be a truly all-encompassing BC experience. With history, culture and nature presented uniquely throughout the private lot, Capilano has something for everyone. Adventures include the “Cliff Walk”, “Treetops Adventure” platforms through the old-growth rainforest, and narrow cantilever bridges. Our only advice? Don’t look down!

  1. Harrison Hot Springs

Nestled against the Fraser Valley’s southeast mountain range is Harrison Lake Hot Springs, a local destination filled with natural wonders. After an approximately 90 minute drive East of Vancouver, you can find a variety of activities for all ages such as: water sports, boat tours, wildlife viewing, hiking, golfing, spas, agri-tours, fishing, festivals, natural hot springs and waterfront dining. Need we say more?
