Travelling With a Pet? Here Are Some Tips for Your Vancouver Extended Stay!

Traveling with your furry friend has never been easier at Vancouver Extended Stay. Whether you’ve got two legs or four, they’re more than welcome to stay in one of our pet-friendly suites. 

We’ve got a few tried tips and tricks to ensure your stay is as comfortable as paw-sible. 

Nothing beats your own bed.

Bring familiar comforts of home. A new place can be overwhelming, so bring your pet’s favourite blanket and toy to bring familiarity while they settle in. 

Stick to feeding routines.

Holidays often call for cheat meals, but that shouldn’t apply to your pet! Making sure they eat right will contribute to a more stress-free stay. Stick to the same feeding schedule and diet to keep them on track (although the occasional dog treat won’t hurt!).

Keep them company. 

Although you may leave your pet alone while at home, they might not be comfortable in the new space just yet. However, if you do have to leave your pet in the room while you go out, you may want to consider a crate to help to keep them out of trouble (and away from chewing your shoes!). Turning on the TV or music could also help keep them company while you are out.

Rev up the exercise.

With Vancouver’s famous seawall just steps away from Vancouver Extended Stay, it’s easy to take a long walk with your dog once arriving. A recently exercised dog is more likely to be relaxed and adaptive to its new surroundings. It is important to let your dog roam around (on a leash) and take in all the scents as they please; this helps them get to know new people and objects, allowing them to feel safe being somewhere new. 

Devonian Harbour Park has a great off-leash dog area, with plenty to see and do.
